CELEBRATE

Homecoming Weekend is a vibrant celebration of Iona school spirit, accomplishments, and traditions, highlighted by our spirited athletic events, performances, and reunions. It's a time to honor our rich history and the lasting impact an Iona education has on the lives of our students, their families, and our 50,000+ alumni community. Whether you’re a current student, a family member, or an alum, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during Homecoming Weekend.

REUNITE

This weekend is a particularly fitting time for alumni to return to campus, reconnecting with old friends, faculty, and the University community. It offers a unique opportunity to relive cherished memories and rekindle the bonds that were formed during their time at Iona.

Iona is a place where lasting relationships are made and, whether you’re a student, family member, or alum, Homecoming is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and connect over our shared Gael spirit.

Golden Jubilarian Reunion Check-in 

Location: Burke Lounge, Spellman Hall
Audience: Class of 1965, 1975 and all Golden Gaels**

Kick off your 50th & 60th reunion weekend by checking in, receiving your welcome materials, and reconnecting with classmates. Parking is available in the parking garage located behind the LaPenta School of Business.

Golden Jubilarian Reunion Campus Tour (Optional)   

Location: Front steps of Spellman Hall    
Audience: Class of 1965, 1975 and all Golden Gaels**

Golden Jubilarian Reunion Luncheon     

Location: Burke Lounge, Spellman Hall    
Audience: Class of 1965, 1975 and all Golden Gaels**

Celebrate decades of memories with fellow alumni over a special luncheon in honor of the Class of 1965 and 1975. All Golden Gaels (alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago) are welcome. Following the luncheon, guests will gather for a group photo on the steps outside of Spellman Hall to commemorate the occasion. After the photo, enjoy a festive procession to the LaPenta School of Business—cheered on by members of the Iona community—before arriving at the State of the University Interview with Seamus Carey, Ph.D., President.

Golden Jubilarian 50th Reunion: State of the University Interview with Seamus Carey, Ph.D., President

Enjoy light refreshments and the opportunity to connect with fellow reunion attendees in the atrium immediately following the State of the University interview.

Meet fellow families, faculty, and staff at a reception celebrating the important role of parents and families at Iona. The evening will include a brief program featuring remarks from University leadership, as well as an opportunity to connect with representatives from across campus in a resource fair-style setting. This is an ideal time to ask questions, explore available support services and become more familiar with the Iona community.

Maroon Madness Afterparty

Location: Mazzella Field  
Audience: Students   

The celebration doesn’t stop after the final buzzer! Join the Gaels Activities Board for the Post-Maroon Madness Student Afterparty — a high-energy, basketball-themed hangout packed with games, music, snacks, and prizes. Challenge your friends to classic Pop-A-Shot duels, basketball ring toss, and oversized Connect Four — all with a courtside twist. Test your skills in basketball cornhole, strike a pose at our b-ball photo booth, and walk away with exclusive giveaway prizes. Whether you’re coming for the games, the music, or just the post-game vibes, this is your chance to keep the energy going and celebrate like a champion. Let’s keep the madness rolling — see you on the field!

 Return to Mazzella Field for a spirited alumnae game: a great way to kick off Homecoming Saturday with friendly competition and Gael pride!

Men’s and Women’s Diving vs. Wagner and Sacred Heart

Location: Hynes Athletics Center Pool
Audience: Open to All

Cheer on the Gaels as our men’s and women’s diving teams compete against Sacred Heart University and Wagner College in an exciting start to Homecoming Weekend at the Hynes Athletics Center pool! Diving will begin at 9 a.m. with swimming to follow at 11:30 a.m. Go Gaels!

Men’s Lacrosse Scrimmage vs. Wagner

The Iona Players Present The Wizard of Oz

There will be an additional performance on Sunday, October 19, at 3 p.m.

Join us for a magical production of The Wizard of Oz during Homecoming Weekend! This family-friendly show welcomes students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff on a journey down the yellow brick road.

Jerome Levkov: Scientist and Artist, a Retrospective of Four Decades of Work.

Location: JoAnn Mazzella Murphy '98H Arts Center

Join us for our spirited Homecoming Gael Gate celebration! Enjoy tasty fare from local food trucks and refreshing drinks as you enjoy the rugby game. The festivities include an entrance by the Iona Pipe Band leading the Men's Rugby team onto the field, performances from the Iona Dance Team, Cheer Team, and Gold Line Dance Team during halftime, capped off by a special Rugby Hall of Fame ceremony. (Please bring cash or card for food and drinks.)
