Iona University’s Sherlon Boothe ’24 Wins National Auditing Scholarship
New Rochelle, N.Y. – Iona University’s Sherlon Boothe ’24 has been awarded the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholarship in recognition of his exceptional promise in accounting and auditing.
The $15,000 scholarship is awarded through a nomination process for both undergraduate and graduate students across the United States. Over the past four years, an Iona student has earned this prestigious scholarship each year.
According to the PCAOB, institutions participate in the scholarship program based on their accreditation and the number of students they graduate with accounting degrees each year.
Boothe, a Brooklyn native and graduate of Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, said he is honored to receive the PCAOB Scholarship, as it will allow him to graduate in a strong position and “focus on providing excellent service in my career.”
“I want to give a special thanks to Professor Haber and Professor Gioiosa,” he added. “I am eternally grateful to have you as professors.”
Boothe’s journey in accounting is fueled by his passion for math and science. He also values the field as a way to help people achieve their financial goals in life.
Deeply involved in campus life at Iona, Boothe serves as president of the Accounting Club, treasurer of the West Indian Student Establishment and a member of both the Finance and Marketing Clubs.
Looking ahead, he is confident in his ability to earn his degree and CPA license.
“Iona has given me all the training necessary to succeed in business,” he said.
