About Commuter Life

Commuter Life is Iona's umbrella organization that caters to the celebration of our commuter students on campus. This organization works with our commuter assistants, who are campus leaders serving as peer mentors to incoming commuter students.

At Iona, we are committed to providing equality, equity and inclusion for all our students. We strive for engaged community participation from our commuter students and work to ensure they have access to all the tools necessary to enjoy their time at Iona.

COMMUTER STUDENT MYTHS & REALITIES

MYTH 1: Freshmen Commuter students do not have any support on campus.
REALITY 1: Commuter assistants, who are assigned to incoming commuter students, help bridge connections between commuters and the larger campus community, and serve as a resource for their cohort members.

MYTH 2: It is extremely difficult for commuters to be informed on campus activities.
REALITY 2: Stay updated with campus events through weekly emails and texts from commuter assistants. Follow our Instagram, @ionacommuterlife, for daily updates. Attend monthly commuter life meetings and check Iona's Campus Events page for the latest happenings.

MYTH 3: There is limited support for commuter upperclassmen.
REALITY 3: We host general meetings biweekly, where all commuter students are welcomed to celebrate being a commuter with many different activities. All commuter students have access to free parking passes.
