Does this program count toward the master requirement for New York Professional Certification?

Yes. If you have a New York initial certification and seek only to meet your master's requirement toward Professional Certification, and do not intend to be certified in Literacy, you can complete this program.

The MS in Integrated Language and Literacy program does not lead to teacher licensure in Literacy. However, it is specifically designed to allow New York teachers with initial certification to pursue Literacy (All Grades) certification through the Individual Pathway once they meet the required clinical practicum hours.

For a literacy program that leads to New York licensure upon graduation, please explore Iona's MSEd degree.
