Nancy Vidal, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Nancy Vidal teaches courses in dysphagia in adults and children, introduction to communication disorders, normal acquisition of speech and language, anatomy and physiology of the speech mechanism, andbilingualism and speech disorders. Her research interests include neurophysiological correlates of English speech sounds in the monolingual and bilingual population, socio-cultural variables that influence language use in bilinguals, the effects of animal-assisted therapy on college students and on individuals with communication difficulties, and dysphagia in children and adults.

Dr. Vidal’s research interests include neurophysiological correlates of English vowels in the monolingual and bilingual population.  Other interests are in the area of the socio-cultural variables that influence language use in bilinguals.

Dr. Vidal is an assistant professor in the Speech Communication Studies Department at Iona University. She has many years of clinical experience in the areas of pediatric and adult dysphagia, language disorders and bilingualism. Dr. Vidal has worked in several hospitals, specializing in the head and neck population and in private practice. Additionally Dr. Vidal has supervised many student clinicians in treating various oro-motor, dysphagia and speech/language disorders.
