Internship Opportunity at Iona Empowers Alexander Garces ’25
“Iona has given me the knowledge and experience to be confident in internship opportunities.”
New Rochelle, N.Y. – Drawn to Iona University’s business program, Alexander Garces '25 discovered a supportive environment to fuel his many interests.
Most recently, he added the role of intern at the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation to his resume. As he reflects on his internship experience, Garces remains grateful for an Iona education.
“It's been incredible to see my ideas put into action and actually make an impact on campus,” said the Bronx native and Cardinal Spellman High School graduate. “Iona has given me the knowledge and experience to be confident in internship opportunities. This accomplishment means a lot to me.”
Garces was also given the opportunity to spend three weeks in Porto, Portugal, studying with the European Innovation Academy. There, he stepped into a leadership role guiding a diverse team of five from all over the world. This study abroad experience further enriched his skillset.
Looking ahead, Garces is aiming to combine his love for sports and marketing as an international business major. He is also pursuing a minor in business analytics and information systems.
“I'm eager to explore opportunities in sports marketing, ideally within motorsports,” he said.
Garces is also actively involved in numerous clubs on campus from the Gaels Activities Board (GAB) and Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization to Golf and the Marketing club. Each organization has allowed him to develop transferable skills inside and outside the classroom.
“At Iona, I gained an incredibly supportive environment and professors who want to see us succeed,” he said.
