Iona University Marriage and Family Therapy Program Ranked #1 in New York for 2025
New Rochelle & Bronxville, N.Y. – Iona University is proud to announce its Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) was ranked #1 in New York for 2025 by CounselingPsychology.org.
According to the report, these rankings are meticulously crafted, taking into account several critical factors such as program completion rates, cost of living, institutional competitiveness, program diversity, and faculty experience.
Iona’s program is also one of only three Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE)-accredited programs in New York.
Combing comprehensive classroom instruction and hands-on, clinical experiences, key highlights include:
- Hybrid Learning Format: Iona’s MFT program offers a flexible class schedule with in-person and online classes, which allows students to receive their 60-credit degree in just three years.
- Diagnostic Privileges: Iona's program meets the New York State Education Department Office of Professional Education requirements for coursework content needed in diagnosis (diagnostic privilege), assessment and treatment implementation plans. This means that future licensed graduates of the MFT program can have diagnostic privileges as part of their practice.
- Strong Career Outlook: The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 16 percent job growth from 2023 to 2033 for licensed marriage and family therapists. On average, about 5,900 openings for marriage and family therapists are projected each year, offering an abundance of opportunities in this specialized field.
