Iona University to Present Prestigious Iona Legacy Award at 2025 Trustees Scholarship Award Gala
New Rochelle & Bronxville, N.Y. – Iona University is pleased to announce it will honor Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and chief executive officer of NewYork-Presbyterian, at its annual Trustees Scholarship Award Gala on April 8, 2025. Dr. Corwin will be presented with the esteemed 2025 Iona Legacy Award.
This event celebrates the University’s dedication to service and scholarship by honoring distinguished alumni and community leaders who exemplify the Iona mission of transforming lives through education.

A Premier New School
Established July 2021, the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences offers a new vision for collaborative health care education, modern workforce development and community engagement. Supported by a $20 million gift from NewYork-Presbyterian, the school operates from Iona’s 28-acre campus in Bronxville, located just 1.5 miles from NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester.
At the undergraduate level, students are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in nursing, health and wellness, social work, and speech-language pathology and audiology. At the graduate level, master’s degrees are offered in nursing education, nursing health care organizational leadership, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, occupational therapy, and communication sciences and disorders. A master’s in social work is launching Fall 2025.
The school’s flagship building is the Kelly Center for Health Sciences, named in honor of benefactors Al Kelly Jr. ’80, ’81MBA, ’19H, former CEO and executive chairman of Visa, and his wife, Peggy Kelly ’81, ’84MBA. Spanning three floors and nearly 32,000 square feet, the Kelly Center features an array of interdisciplinary classrooms and state-of-the-art simulation labs, where students gain hands-on training from experienced faculty. It opened January 2023.
This year, Mr. Kelly will serve as the master of ceremonies for the scholarship gala. Proceeds from the event will directly support student success, furthering Iona’s commitment to providing transformative educational opportunities.
Past Iona Legacy Award honorees represent prominent leaders such as His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan ’14H, Francis Cardinal Spellman, New York Governor Malcolm Wilson, U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, and world-renowned Ice Bucket Challenge co-founder Pat Quinn ’06, among many others.
