Residential Life Staff

The Office of Residential Life staff is composed of full-time live-in professionals and 35 student resident assistants. Our staff is committed to providing students with a quality residential life experience while promoting personal and academic excellence.

Colin fell in love with Residential Life during his time at Central Connecticut State University. As a first-generation college student, he discovered Student Affairs and Residence Life as a career path and knew instantly that’s what he wanted to do. Colin earned his BA in Science for Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics and immediately started working as a Residence Hall Director at Mount Saint Mary College where he also received his MBA. Colin has 10 years of experience working in Residential Life and serves as a board member of the Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers (NEACUHO). Outside of work Colin enjoys spending time with friends and family, dabbling in photography, playing video games, and trying to keep up with his 3-year-old son.

Becca has been a dedicated member of the Iona University team since May 2021, Becca received her BA in Psychology from Kean University in Union, N.J. and her Master's in Higher Education and Student Affairs from West Chester University. She is originally from Howell, New Jersey. Becca deeply cherishes spending time with her seven nieces and nephews, and she enjoys the company of her dog, Benson. She is passionate about guiding students through their college journeys and helping them make the most of their experience.

Chasity has over 15 years of experience in higher education. She received her BA in English from UNC Chapel Hill, her MS in Higher Education Administration from Drexel University, and is pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership also at Drexel. A "Tar Heel" born and bred - Chasity enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys, playing New York Times games, reading The Times, watching TV, and going to the beach, preferably in Florida. Much joy is found in funny yet relatable Instagram reels and group chats with her loved ones. She is passionate about creating an equitable residential experience for all students who choose to live on campus and is a "Res-Life 4 Lifer!"

Claudia Marcelin is an Iona alumnae and an MBA candidate at the LaPenta School of Business. With a passion for student affairs that began during her time as a student leader, Claudia has accumulated approximately five years of experience in residence life. A local to New Rochelle, she enjoys reading, taking walks with friends, and escaping for a relaxing weekend trip. Claudia is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging residential environment for all students and is excited to continue making a positive impact in the field of affairs.

Sophia Notarianni-Smith is from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She grew up all over Europe- Italy, Romania, the Netherlands, and Belgium, to name a few. After graduating from high school in Rome, she attended the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) and graduated in 2024. She moved to New Rochelle with her husband shortly after. She loves dogs, baking and reading.

Each resident is assigned a resident assistant who has been trained to be a campus resource and is available to answer questions about campus and living in the residence halls.

Resident assistants are supervised by a master's-level residence hall director.
