Model United Nations

Model United Nations provides students the opportunity to simulate the work of the United Nations by assuming roles of delegates while they coordinate agreements and resolutions to international problems.

Participation in Model UN provides an outlet to hone critical skills outside the classroom: research, public speaking, debating, writing, critical thinking and more. More than anything, being a part of a team and working together is an essential benefit of Model UN!

Iona's Model UN team has competed against other universities and colleges around the world for over a decade at the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference. The team has had the honor of representing nations, such as Burundi, Republic of Sudan, El Salvador and more.

In 2020, for the first time ever, the team will be competing at the Model United Nations conference, assuming the role of Montenegro.

The Model UN team is actively involved in both philanthropic and awareness-raising events on campus, including Relay for Life, IonaTHON, Box City and more.
