Neuroscience Club
The Neuroscience Club at Iona is a student-led organization open to all undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in the field of neuroscience! Our goal is to learn about neuroscience research together and to provide neuroscience education to our fellow Iona students as well as the broader New Rochelle community. We meet monthly to discuss new ideas, findings, and teachings in neuroscience research. We also engage in neuroscience outreach on campus and in local K-12 classrooms. We connect our members with Iona professors in neuroscience, psychology, biology and philosophy, and we welcome members from all majors to join us to learn about how neuroscience is relevant to their disciplines.
Our activities include:
- Monthly journal club meetings where we discuss exciting new findings in the field of neuroscience and learn about cutting-edge research methods being used by neuroscientists.
- An on-campus Brain Fair which we host during Brain Awareness Week in March. This event features hands-on activities and games, panel discussions, and more!
- Bi-monthly visits to K-12 classrooms in the community where members teach kids about the brain using games, activities and hands-on experiments.
- Presentations in partnership with the Iona’s NYSED Liberty Partnerships Program for medical magnet high school students.
- A spring panel discussion with Iona faculty and local professionals who work in neuroscience-related fields on career opportunities in neuroscience.
To join, please email club co-presidents, Kacey D’Ambrosio and Serena Butler.
