The Health & Wellness Department at Iona University is dedicated to preparing students for impactful careers in promoting and advocating best practices for health and well-being. This program takes a comprehensive approach, covering the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions of health while embracing a broader view of wellness that also considers social, spiritual, and environmental influences.
Students in the Health and Wellness program engage with a diverse curriculum that includes natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and math. Through rigorous coursework, practical experiences, and guidance from dedicated faculty, students gain the essential knowledge, skills, and tools to understand the complexities of health and well-being. They graduate ready to advocate for and advance health and wellness across various professional settings.
Health and Wellness Major (BS Degree)
The Health and Wellness program at Iona University offers an in-depth study of the factors that shape human health. Through a dynamic curriculum that includes human anatomy & physiology, nutrition, and exercise science, students gain a robust understanding of the biological aspects of wellness. Foundational courses in developmental psychology, mathematics, and entrepreneurship broaden their skill set, preparing graduates to design and implement effective health promotion, advocacy, and fitness initiatives.
This program also serves as a strong foundation for students interested in advancing to Iona’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, providing a seamless pathway to further specialization and professional growth.
