Dr. Pérez teaches language courses and Introductory literature courses. Her research interests include Latin American Literature, Puerto Rican Literature of the XX century, and visual studies. She has published articles on Caribbean women writers and has presented her research at the University of Puerto Rico. Besides her interests in literature and language, she has participated in group art exhibitions at Luiggi Marrozini in Puerto Rico, Mercer Street Gallery, and Greenpoint Gallery in New York.
