Student Leadership & Diversity Conference
Friday, March 22, 2024
Iona University New Rochelle Campus
This year’s conference will introduce students to a global perspective on leadership. The goal is to create an engaging, fun, and educational experience based on the CAS standards of Student Leadership and Multicultural Programs and the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs learning outcomes. Students will learn more about themselves and others and how to lead and be citizens in a more connected global society.
Through participation in the Student Leadership and Diversity Conference, participants will deepen their:
- Understanding and appreciation for diversity
- Value and Respect for Differences
- Commitment to Citizenship
- Personal Ethics and Values
- Sense of self awareness
- Sense of spiritual identity
- Critical thinking and pursuit of lifelong learning
- Effective communication skills and roles as team members
- Professional competencies and leadership skills
To achieve these outcomes, the keynote speaker will discuss topics such as the role of self-awareness in leadership and practical strategies for effective leadership in a global society. To compliment this, we are asking for additional educational offerings that can give attendees a well-rounded perspective on leadership as it relates to themselves, within groups, and in the world. Some suggested topics include, but are not limited to: communication, ethical leadership, core values, conflict management, privilege, and social justice.
