Cash Gifts
Cash gifts can be made by check, credit card, or online.
Checks should be made payable to Iona University and, to ensure that it is properly credited, should be accompanied by a letter outlining the purpose of the gift (please include your grad year when applicable).

The power of pledges
Pledges enable a donor to consider a more significant gift that would not have been otherwise possible. A pledge to donate $5,000 annually for five years, for example, can allow you to make a stretch gift. By combining yearly gifts into a multi-year pledge, donors have a greater impact on the future of Iona University.

Stocks and securities
Appreciated stocks and securities are good assets to use when making a charitable gift in that they provide tax benefits that are not available from cash gifts. You will be entitled to a charitable tax deduction for the average of the high and low stock prices on the date of the gift, regardless of the amount that you paid for the stock. In addition, you will not pay capital gains tax on the stock that you would have been required to pay if you liquidated the stock.
