Events & Lectures

Our Office of Mission & Ministry (OMM) is dedicated to making the mission of service, justice, and spirituality conscious in the minds and hearts of the University community. OMM hosts various events and lectures throughout the year that give you the opportunity to make new friends and contribute to our community of faith and compassion.

Week of the Peacemaker

For over 30 years Iona University has chosen the time period following Veterans Day to dedicate academic and co-curricular attention to peacemaking. This annual observance honors the selfless dedication of veterans for the cause of peace, freedom, and justice. Each year the University chooses a theme for its Week of the Peacemaker and through lectures and activities conveys this theme in diverse and dynamic ways.

Thursday Hospitality Suppers

All Iona students are welcome to attend the weekly Hospitality Supper, every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Montgomery House. Various clubs and organizations on campus sponsor the weekly dinner. They are a great opportunity to meet fellow students and learn about upcoming events and activities scheduled through the Office of Mission & Ministry.

If you are interested in sponsoring a Hospitality Supper or would like additional information, please contact the Office of Mission & Ministry.

Coffee House

Everyone has a gift to share! Share yours with the Iona community at our hugely popular Mission and Ministry Coffee House! Guitarists, pianists, singers, bands, a capella groups, praise dancers, jam band, salsa dancers, spoken word artists – all performed in the midst of a tremendously supportive Iona community and much appreciation.

Coffee House is held in September and February each year. If you would like to perform, please be sure to touch base with the Office of Mission & Ministry early to find out sign-up dates.

Br. William B. Cornelia Lecture

Iona University celebrates the life of Br. Cornelia as it commits itself to being a “caring academic community, inspired by the legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers and the liberating power of education.” The Br. William B. Cornelia Lecture series highlights that commitment.
