Course Overview: FPA 491
This course is an overview of ancient Roman theatre and is designed to have students experience ancient Roman theatre and all its many unique forms. The overview will consist of the study of plays, playwrights, styles, performers, theatres and the society that was engaged during this important era of theatre history. While in Italy, students will have an opportunity to embark on tours and visits of the most majestic and important sites in and around the city of Rome. These experiences will further elucidate the subject matter taught during the semester. When in the classroom, instruction will further support and enlighten the visits to these locations and delve further into ancient Roman theatre and all its marvels.
